Hiro and Claire go back 16 years in time. They see Hiro's father hand over a baby to Noah. Claire thinks that the baby is the younger version of her. Hiro and Claire have difficulty communicating because of his inability to speak English. Hiro's father tells young Hiro to come inside. Hiro hears his younger self call for his mom. Hiro follows himself and sees him hugging his mom. His father says that her mother is sick. The mother says that they have to make arrangements for Claire to become the catalyst. Kaito says that he wants Noah to return with the baby. Young Hiro sees that his pet bird is dead. He gives the bird to his mom. His mom holds the bird, gives it a kiss, and it begins to breathe again. Hiro realizes that his mother can restore his memory. Hiro's father finds Hiro and tells him that he should be cooking breakfast. He thinks that Hiro is the new chef. Hiro heads off to the kitchen.

Sylar and Elle are sent to Costa Verde by Hiro. In the morning, Sylar finds himself covered in blood after killing Elle and stealing her power. Sylar gets a call from Arthur. Sylar tells him that he knows that he is not his father. Sylar looks at Elle's phone and sees that she is carrying a list of people with special abilities. He tells Arthur that he now has a way to find out the truth. Sylar hangs up the phone, pours lighter fluid on Elle's body and begins to burn her.

Angela tells Peter and the Haitian that they need to shoot Arthur in the back of the head. Angela says that she poisoned Arthur because he is dangerous. She tells Peter that there is no other way to stop Arthur.

Nathan arrives at Pinehearst and sees Nikki and Arthur talking. Nathan says that he wants to help Arthur. Arthur agrees to work with Nathan. Later, Nathan gets angry at Nikki for going behind his back and working with Arthur. Nikki says that Nathan is destined to become the President of the United States. Nikki says that they get to choose who gets the power. Nikki brings him to a room full of soldiers.

Back in the past, Claire arrives outside of her mother's apartment and sees Sandra struggling to open the door while carrying a baby and groceries. Claire approaches Sandra and tells her that she wants to help her with her bags. Claire pretends to be a neighbor. Claire tells Sandra that she has babysitting skills and can help change her baby's diapers. Sandra says that she has known her baby Claire for only a few hours and that she is already in love with her. Claire is happy to see how caring Sandra is.

Sylar arrives at Sue Lander's office. Sylar says that he is there to make a delivery. Sue reads his mind and sees that he is lying. Sylar closes the door with his mind. Sylar asks how she can tell when people are lying. Sylar pushes Sue against the wall and says that it won't hurt a bit. Sue sees that he is lying. Sylar cuts into her skull, steals her power and kills her. Sylar says that he has forgotten how fun it is to kill people. Sue's coworker's enter to surprise Sue for her birthday. Sylar sees that they are carrying cake and closes the door.

Nathan begins to question one of the marines. Nathan says that the drug will change his life forever. The marine tells Nathan that he was Iraq. He says that he was ambushed and most of his team was killed. The marine says that he wishes he could have protected his team. Nathan says that he is being too hard on himself.

Daphne brings Ando and Matt to a delivery service company to look for the sketches that Mendez drew before he died. Matt asks the delivery service company owner if he knows a man named Isaac Mendez. Matt looks into the man's mind and sees that he knows about the sketches. Daphne tells them that they want the sketches. The man says that the sketches are in the back. He goes to the back room. They turn around and see that the man is trying to escape on his bike. Daphne chases after him and causes him to crash into a cab. The man tells Daphne that he gives up and will hand over the sketches.

Back in the past, Hiro begins to cook. He overhears his family talk about the younger version of him. His mother tells Kaito that she wants to give Hiro the catalyst. Kaito says that Hiro is irresponsible and will never amount to anything. Young Hiro walks in and sees his older version of himself eavesdropping on his parents. Young Hiro says that he knows that his parents are talking about him and are disappointed at him.

Noah walks in the apartment and sees Claire caring for the baby version of herself. Noah is concerned that Sandra left the baby with a stranger. Noah asks Claire who she really is. Claire tries to lie, but Noah knows that she is not telling the truth. Claire says that she is there to protect the baby. Noah asks Claire who sent her. Claire tells Noah that she knows that he is confused on how to treat the baby. Claire tells him that he knows that he works for the company. The phone rings and Claire tells him not to answer. She says that it is the company and that they are going to ask for the baby back. Noah realizes that Claire is the older version of the baby then hangs up the phone.

Hiro brings his mother waffles. He says that he doesn't know how to make the food that she wants. The mother realizes that Hiro looks familiar. Hiro admits that he is her son and that he went back in time. Hiro's mother believes him and gives him a hug. She is happy to see him as a grown up. Hiro says that someone stole his memories. Hiro says that she can heal him. She says that she will try and gives him a kiss on his head. Hiro pulls back and says that he remembers everything. He begins to cry and says that he remembers how much he missed her. Hiro tells her that he has become a master of space and time. She asks if his father has seen what he has accomplished. Hiro says that he has grown close to his dad. Hiro asks to give him the light, which is the catalyst. His mom says that his father was planning on giving the light to Claire. Hiro says that he wants it and that he can protect the light. Hiro's mom agrees to give the light to Hiro. A red light engulfs Hiro, then fades away. Hiro sees that her mother has lost consciousness. Hiro begins to shake her, sees that she is dead, then says goodbye.

The Haitian and Peter drive towards Pinehearst. They get stuck in traffic. They begin to talk about having to kill Arthur. The Haitian asks Peter to hand over the gun so he can kill Arthur. Peter says that he has to take care of his father himself.
