The death of a Nathaniel Fisher Sr. leaves his family business of providing funereal services in the hands of his two sons, Nate and David and his business partner, Federico Diaz. David Fisher, the son of Nathaniel, tries to cope with his father's death and his issues with his own sexuality. The Fisher's youngest daughter, the rebellious Claire, tries to find the meaning of life. The workplace featured on the show provides an environment to explore death and the different effects on the ones left behind. The show often projects the embodiment of Nathaniel Fisher Sr. and other recently deceased in the minds of their family to guide and console.
