Karen finds out Eli is retiring and confronts him. Eli says his doctor told him he had heart troubles and needed to retire. Eli says he has a trustworthy replacement named Toby. Karen tells Eli that he is irreplaceable and suggests throwing him a goodbye party. Eli then climbs on to the roof to fix a shingle and dies from a heart attack.

Juanita discovered crows picking at Eli's body an hour after he died. Soon all the neighbors arrive at the scene.

Two days later, the ladies play poker. They talk about Eli and Gabby is silent with grief. She remembers back to the first time she met Eli. Carlos gave her a pair of Jimmy Choos. She asked Carlos why he was giving her a gift and Carlos admitted he had to go out of town for business again. The two then got into a fight in front of Eli, who was fixing the plumbing. After Carlos left, Eli told Gabby that the ladies in the neighborhood played poker every week. He told Gabby he would pull some strings to allow her to host the next game.

Gabby remembers when the ladies arrived at her house and met her for the first time. Gabby told the ladies about her glamorous life. She said she was dying of boredom. Bree told Gabby about all the things they do for fun in the neighborhood, but Gabby was not amused. The next day, Eli arrived at Gabby's house with a bill for his services. He told her that she made an impression on the ladies. He says that they called her stuck up and obnoxious. Eli told Gabby that she acted like she was better then them. Gabby told Eli that they were boring. He told her that she better be nicer or she would end up spending her days alone. Gabby decided to act on Eli's advice and brought muffins the the next poker game, to which she wasn't invited. Gabby then told the ladies that her husband is never home, she misses the city, and could really use some friends. The ladies then decided Gabby was a keeper.

The ladies snap Gabby out of her daydream. They start to make plans for Eli's funeral. Bree offers to make something from her cookbook and asks Gabby to get her copy. Gabby pulls the book out from under the leg of her coffee table, upsetting Bree.

Bree flashes back to hosting a picnic for Tom, a pregnant Lynette, and her husband Rex. Bree and her husband argued over whether or not she should get a job, Bree arguing that being a homemaker is a job. Later, Eli was fixing Bree's sink. Rex walked in the kitchen and asked Bree what was for dinner. Bree told him to have leftovers. She said she was busy making a cookbook so she could earn some extra money. Rex told Bree she didn't know anything about writing. Rex then told Bree to stop her foolishness and make him something to eat. Bree got up and threw away her book of recipes.

Bree then remembers when she was alone in her kitchen after Rex's funeral. Eli walked in and told her he was finished. He told Bree her husband's funeral service was really nice. He asked her what she was going to do next and she told him she didn't know. He then gave Bree her notebook of recipes that she threw out. He told Bree her Cajun meatloaf was his favorite meal ever. Bree snaps out of her flashback and tells the ladies she knows what she is going to make.

Dave tells Edie that Eli died. Edie is upset by the news and remembers when she was arguing with Umberto about not having enough sex. Umberto told her she was out of control and left. Eli walked out of Edie's bathroom, surprising her. Edie was embarrassed that he heard their fight. She then asked him what he thought of her and he told her she was a 10. He told her that his construction buddies would have gone crazy for her and started giving her examples of phrases they would shout at her.

Edie then remembers when she was getting drunk and Eli came to her room. She told him that she was celebrating not being married to a gay man anymore. Eli told her that she had a gay guy sleep with her for two years, which is pretty impressive. He told her she was a knockout. Edie grabbed his hand, then his face, then got on top of him. Eli asked if she was sure and Edie said yes. Dave snaps Edie out of her memory and tells her that the funeral is on Saturday. Dave sees the dress Edie picked out for the funeral and asks if it's too sexy. Edie tells him Eli wouldn't mind.
